Reflections on Fertility Nutrition at the Show
After attending the 2025 Fertility Show, I’ve been reflecting on the growing interest in fertility nutrition and how it can support complex fertility journeys. It was a really busy two days at the Fertility Show 2025 at London’s Olympia. I was on the stand with my colleagues at the Fertility Nutrition Centre. Here I am with some of the team and the wonderful Mr Jonathan Ramsay!
The show atmosphere was bustling
It was certainly busier than last year’s. Attendees were engaged, informed, and clearly doing their homework. Many were years into challenging journeys trying to conceive.
Arriving at the show, they were there not there to wander around. Most were on a mission, determined to get answers for their most pressing questions.
On The Fertility Nutrition Centre Stand
We weren’t selling anything — just sharing evidence-based fertility nutrition support. We ran a great competition including Ova supplements (formulated by one of our own), a methylation test and 3 months worth of Proov pee sticks! There were free zinc taste tests. The test is a fun and quick way to assess likely deficiency in zinc. Zinc is mineral crucial for both egg and sperm health and also immune health. It’s a valuable test for those struggling to conceive and wanting to personalise their fertility nutrition. More than anything, we were listening to concerns and offering actionable guidance without the overwhelm…..
Emotions were high
Many who visited us arrived with information overload. Often, they had received unhelpful mixed messages about what to do to support their infertility, even whilst waiting to take their next steps with assisted reproduction. Frustratingly, some attendees had been told to “go straight to IVF” — with no consideration for what might be happening for them. Sadly, some were hearing that fertility nutrition or any integrative approach was pointless. No focus was put into investigating gut health, vaginal microbiome, seminal microbiome, inflammation, methylation issues, autoimmune conditions, or poor nutrient status. It felt like a weird version of Monopoly….”Low AMH? Unexplained Infertility? Go straight to IVF, do not bother investigating your health on the way”. And that’s just not right……
Actually, ignoring Fertility Nutrition is a missed opportunity.
We have a growing body of research showing how integrative approaches including fertility nutrition and other holistic therapies can dramatically support fertility outcomes. Support like this doesn’t replace IVF — IVF is absolutely vital in some cases. But it can enhance it. Clinics that understand this and work in an integrative way are already seeing better results and it’s great to see more consultants and clinics like this emerging. Ultimately, this combined approach supports the people we are all trying to help have their babies! Every week, in clinic, I’m working with women and couples to explore their unexplained infertility, endometriosis or recurrent miscarriage. Investigating vaginal microbiomes, seminal microbiomes, nutrigenomics, hormone health, nutrient status, thyroid health and SO much more we optimise their health and their fertility to support their path to parenthood, whether through natural conception or with IVF.
The Wider Show
The show also featured thought-provoking talks from Dr Rahi Victory on endometriosis. Amongst other things, he spoke on the importance of integrative approaches to infertility, including the benefits of fertility nutrition and personalised supplementation. He also spoke on genetics and genetic testing. Mr Jonathan Ramsay featured on male fertility support, another advocate for fertility nutrition and its role in optimising sperm health. A number of leading clinics were also featured. Testing companies I use such as ScreenMe, Randox, and TestHim were there to answer your questions. Many of these clinics and providers are already embracing collaboration. It really gives me hope for the future and the role of fertility nutrition.
